Mr. Ghazanfar Ali, Country General Manager, IBM Pakistan & Afghanistan, will be the Guest Speaker.

Ghazanfar returned to Pakistan after almost 5 and half of year oversees assignment from IBM Pakistan in various regions. Currently he is leading IBM Pakistan operations with a mission to transform IBM Pakistan in line with IBM global transformation as Cognitive Solutions and Cloud Platform Company.




Earlier Responsibilities:                Brand Leader- Power Systems IBM Middle East Africa 2014-2015


Lead the sales and managed Profit & Loss portfolio of IBM leading Servers brand across Middle East, Africa and Turkey. Under his leadership IBM portfolio grew fastest among all regions and even in sharply declining market IBM not only managed to grow but also contributed to slowing down the decline. Ghazanfar was recognized for these efforts and was selected as Best of IBM employee.


Competitive & Channel Leader- IBM Growth Market Unit-2013


IBM Growth Market unit was one of the largest Sales Unit IBM made in recent history. It spanned from Australia New Zealand to Latin America excluding only North America, Western Europe and Japan. Ghazanfar was assigned to lead the channel and competitive strategy for this region. In short period he was able to create an execution model that resulted in IBM overall market share gain and enhanced channel participation.


Competitive Leader- IBM Middle East Africa-2011-2012


Middle East & Africa business was under pressure from competitive forces and specially emerging competitors. As Competitive Sales Leader, Ghazanfar was able to create a model based on key accounts and key market players which included building new market relationships with key influencers driving transformations in the industry. Based on his success he was assigned to Growth Market Units to

deliver similar strategy and execution.


Systems Leader- IBM Central West Africa 2011


In 2011 IBM decided to separate Sub Saharan Africa from South Africa. Ghazanfar was assigned the role to lead the transformation that included setting up of new team in the region comprising 27 African countries. He was not only able to transform the whole talent base by bringing experienced talent from

across the world and local hiring to create a growth engine. IBM Central West Africa did not only outgrow everyone else in 2011 but also remained a strong growth contributor for the years to come.


Systems Leader- IBM Pakistan 2006-2010


Ghazanfar joined IBM Pakistan as System x leader in 2006- In short 9 months period he was able to transform the business and brought IBM to market share leader from 3rd position with more than 50% growth. He was then promoted to lead the Systems portfolio in 2007. During his 4 years period Systems revenue grew 2.5 times and IBM became an established leader in the market. IBM

systems counted 50% of country revenues and majority of profit.


Vice President- InfoTech 2000-2006


After completion of Engineering, Ghazanfar joined InfoTech as Network trainee engineer in 2006. He grew quickly to become General Manager of the company within one year. Next five years were a journey of great transformation as Ghazanfar lead InfoTech to grow 6 folds in 5 years. From a PC & Server company working in limited space, InfoTech transformed into the leading System Integrator of the country and an established Pakistani face to global markets.
